    'not enough memory'

I know this may be a simple problem but I'm a bit of a novice with my Galaxy S2. I hope someone can help.
I'm unable to access my videos or music as a message is displayed saying 'not enough memory'. My internal storage says I have used 739MB and have 1.2GB free. My external 8GB micro sd card shows I have 5.6GB available. However, my usb storage says I've used 12GB and have no free space.
I guess the usb storage is the problem (unless there is something else) and I would like to know how I came to fill up the usb storage when I thought I was saving things to my external 8GB sd card. I would also like to know how to rectify the problem and also how to manage it in the future?

Not all apps and files go to sd card automatically.
With apps the developer has to build in the option. If you find a lot of apps are not going then you can install the app2sd application from the Play Store.
While there you could also install History Eraser and do some Spring Cleaning of your phone.

    'not enough memory'

Thanks for your help. I will give your suggestions a go. I think the memory is taken up mainly with photos and videos rather than apps. Using the phone, is there an easy method to reduce or empty the usb storage?

If you have photo's and especially video on internal memory then you will have problems.
Connect phone to pc and drag and drop video files from Phone to Card.
