Latest Galaxy S Firmware I9000XXJF5 out

I see that Samsung-Firmwares.com have posted a new ROM XXJF5 its the latest. I wonder what it adds or fixes. Downloaded it and its dated code / PDA 22 June and 19th for modem. So its quite new.

I might flash it tomorrow...

Yes it did, I got a fix inside in about 3 seconds with google maps. GPS reception has improved, its a Russian rom as it included Navifon GPS with a Russian only subscription, you have to buy your own countrys map if non Russia. No doubt this rom has some bug fixes etc too.

NaviFon GPS
BookStore
Utalk

So far I've noticed the following improvements.

Improved GPS (using GPS test as a gauge)
Google maps now gets a quick gps fix
Wifi connection seems more stable.
Asphalt 5 now works without crashing for me, downloaded though Samsung Apps
Swype comes up as default

I want to upgrade my firmware. But I was wondering if I will lose all installed apps. Do I need to reinstall all apps after a firmware upgrade?

How much better is the gps? I notice if I have the phone in my lap in the car co pilot keeps losing its lock,so im a little worried about using it in areas with tall building etc as the lock just isnt that strong.the spped of lock is realy good but its the quility of the lock that concerns me

Yes you loose your apps and have to reinstall them, thats what happens unfortunately when you do a full firmware flash

I haven't tested Co Pilot so i don't know but I used Sygic again today and it never lost its lock. 5 bars the whole time. Bear in mind that I'm in Spain and the sky is clear no clouds.

Cancel the order with them and head over to expansys, got mine from them within 16 hours of ordering.

I ordered from Clove only for the free 8GB mircosd, which when it arrived was missing. They sent me one now. But I can't say I was that impressed with Clove. Missed FedEx the first day and they also asked for proof of ID, address and passport only a day before they were to ship it. Seems like a two man band running the company...
