Access Main screen or S Planner/Calander and other applications while using phone

Hi,

can anyone tell me if its possible to return to the home screen while using the phone? I need to acccess other applications such as S Planner/ Calander while using the phone.

This is to check on my schedule to see what times are still available, etc...

I dont seem to be able to do it... i can only get to contacts, using the lower left corner button...BUt cant get to home screen
