So I went to SamMobile.com and checked the list of firmwares available for:

Smartphone, Android, GT-I9100 Galaxy S II, Turkey and there was only one version of Android 4 which is 4.0.3:

    4.0.4
    PDA: I9100XWLP7
    CSC: I9100OJVLPB

I'm going to stick my neck out and say the best option is to flash the phone with the correct firmware. I'm going to stick my neck out and say that doing this will resolve your problems.

    Edit:

    Your details:
    PDA: 19100XWLPT
    CSC: 19100XEULPA

    Available:
    4.0.3
    PDA: I9100XWLP7
    CSC:I9100OJVLPB

    2.3.6
    PDA: I9100XWKK2
    CSC:I9100OJVKK1

    2.3.5
    PDA: I9100XWKJ1
    CSC:I9100OJVKJ3

I'm not sure if SamMobile has every firmware out there but I'm sure they have nearly all of them.

Wait to see if someone else can shed some more light on the situation, I skipped the S2 so someone else may have more experience with S2 firmwares.

Thanks for all your help but I have no idea how to flash firmware! I've just looked at the tutorial, which looks very complicated .. for me!! Also I don't have a USB cable for the phone so am I right in thinking that I can't do flash the firmware without it?
What does flashing the firmware actually mean .. will it wipe the apps/settings etc. from my phone?

Flashing firmware means to install a new version of the Phone's System Software (Android). Samsung have a program called Samsung Kies which is the companion software for your phone, used to backup contacts and media etc. Search Google for Samsung Kies to download the program to your PC/MAC, you can also connect via wifi.

Samsung Kies is also used to update the phones firmware.

You can also update the phone's firmware Over The Air (OTA). On your phone go to Menu > Settings > About Phone > Software Update, you will need a Samsung account to be able to use this function.

Since you are on a recent version of Android I don't think there will be an update if you try using using Kies or the OTA function on your phone to update firmware.

My only advice is to manually flash the firmware, pretty much the same thing Kies does but you have to download a different program and the software yourself. Unfortunately for this method you will need a cable which you don't have.

There is probably another way but that means going down a dark, dark place for someone who hasn't had much experience with Smart Phones

Alternatively you could take it to a shop that repairs phones and see if they will do it for you. The type of shops that Repair/Unlock phones and are situated within a shop itself...usually a Hats and Bags shop or those cheap urban clothing shops.....at least over here in London

I have flashed a couple of s2's before but am out at the moment. Also typing on my mobile is annoying. You will lose all apps and data, account info and settings. Use kies to backup as much as u can.
