I'm guessing you can't just press the lock button, then ?

    No, you can't.
Pressing the lock button shuts the phone down, screen goes black, no audio. Pressing the home button takes you back to the home screen.

This also happens when using the internet, for example, watching a youtube video.

I'm beginning to think this might be the worst phone ever.

Set your screen time out to say 30 secs then after that screen will turn off but app should stay running. Well mine does anyway. Maybe I have the best phone ever and you need an iPhone???????

I just briefly press the power button and that does the job nicely.

Sometimes people want complicated and easy isn't enough for them.... I gave up at the point "Pressing the lock button shuts the phone down"

I would like to do this in all video's but it should also turn off the touch sensor in the screen to save battery
