ICS Update

Hello, I'm new here, my name is Christian and I'm from Mexico.

I'm a two Android phone owner.
I have the Galaxy S2 the AT&T version since June, I got it brand new & unlocked with the Gingerbread 2.3.6; I also have the Motorola Atrix 2, just purchased last Monday, pre-owned with the 2.3.6 as well.

I want to update to ICS but I have a couple questions I would like to know before.
I read some things and since my phone is already unlocked (using it in Telcel from Mexico), I heard the upgrade won't be shown in the phone automatically. I read that I would need to connect my phone to the PC and upgrade it downloading the Kies software and installing from there.

Question #1: Is that the correct way to upgrade to ICS?

I read here that upgrading from another source, Orion or Omny or something like that is another good way.
I also read that a few of you guys have had some issues with the upgrade.

Question #2: By now all of these issues should be easy to fix, right?

I really want to the get the ICS now.
I hope I have some answers from the experts here.
