    SIII RAM limitations.

At the current moment, 1GB of RAM on ICS is not enough. Whether that changes with the Jelly Bean update, remains to be seen, but I just find it frustrating. I understand the change between CPU chips in different countries, but RAM? Clearly Samsung feels 2GB is needed for optimum performance, as they released variants with that amount in it, but why should those with 1GB suffer in the meanwhile? I'm really upset. Switching back from a "heavier" application to the home screen results in a slow loading of icons and widgets. Sometimes the music player playing in the background just closes because of low RAM. If Jelly Bean solves these problems by being more efficient, that's good, but in the future, when a new version comes out that needs more RAM, 1GB RAM variants will suffer dearly, while 2GB variants might not. Either we all suffer, or we all don't. Not one group will while another won't. Very unfair. What do you guys think?

The only time I've noticed any lag at all is if I have power save on, which runs the CPU underclocked, never had any RAM issues.

The variants with 2Gb Ram are LTE versions which often require different hardware to work efficiently together. With LTE you have a larger bandwidth which means the processor has to deal with more information within the same amount of time.

I don't have any RAM issues either and have the following games installed:

    Asphalt 7
    Real Racing 2
    ShadowGun: The Leftover
    Modern Combat: Fallen Nation

All of these games are demanding on the hardware and have not encountered any issues.

The only time I ever get RAM problems is when switching from a web browser, such as chrome, to the home screen and the music player problem which happens infrequently. I read an article online where a guy from Sony spoke about this problem (not the music player part). He blamed it on ICS and it's huge RAM demands. Hopefully Jelly Bean clears this up.

Just as a test I just ran music player, pressed home and went on internet, then pressed home and started a video which I minimised and dragged around the screen (this stopped the music, understandably), but, cruicially, NO LAG anywhere and when I went in to application manager there were loads of app running in the background too.....

The update isn't available for my phone (this happens a lot with my service provider, as many of my friends' phones' have updates out, but aren't available for their phones). I'm thinking of flashing my phone, as I can't stand being behind with updates and things. The problem is that their isn't a stock rom on any of the sites I tried (probably because a South African cellular network isn't so popular) for when I might need to unroot it. Do you guys know of any other sites I could try? @RichH is your firmware updated too? Thanks for the help guys.
