Transfering pics from phone to PC

Last night I took some pics and wanted to transfer them to my PC. I took out my sd card and plugged it into my computer and I got a message that said there were no new files on the card.

This is how I previously transfered pics from phone to computer so what's the deal? I just can't figure it out. I tried to take the USB cord and plug it from the phone into the computer but I got the same message.

When you click on the DCIM file it just tells me it's empty..can anyone help me with this? Any help would be appreciated...thanks

Are you sure they are being saved to SD card? The default is to save to phone, and it goes back to that default if you reset or flash new firmware.

On my SGS3 my camera was saving to external....I noticed this as there were no photos in my DCIM folder on the phone.

Not sure if newer android versions detect an external card and use this by default. Would make sense in terms of data loss/backup etc.

Took a look at the settings in the camera mode and it was in fact set to Phone...I have now switched it to the SD Card. Thank you so much for the info, I had no idea that it had a setting at all...I've learned something new and I thank you for your help.
