    Battery going completely dead

Hello, Newbie to both the forum and the phone.
I've had my Galaxy S2 for 1 week. 4 times(3 during the night) my battery has gone completely dead.
An example of how this has typically happened is as follows:
Last night I had a 92% charge. I turned off wifi, 4g, and gps and tunrned my alarm on. When I woke up, late, my battery was so dead I had to put it on a charger to turn it on.
When this happened with my previous phone- a Blackberry(my first smat phone) it was due to my having left programs running unaware. Easy fix once I learned what the problem was. My understand is that this phone shuts down programs automaticly when not in use. True?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks, Spencer

Just to crosscheck, hold down the "Home" button for 3 to 4 secs & check in Task Manager to see the list of open programs.

Yes, the device closes the programs (inactive) of it's own, but it takes it's own time. Not an immediate closer.

    Thanks for responding.
I just did that(the phone is currently in the same state it was before bed last night, except the batt is charged now), and the only program open is Play Store. A) Would that have been enough to drain 92% charge in 8 hours?; B) How do I close Play Store?

    A) Not really.

    B) Have not tried it myself. But I think, you can close that from the "Task Manager" itself.

Look in Settings >Accounts & Sync and you will find many apps constantly trying to sync with servers, internet etc. These sync's will happen regardless of the app running. Turn off sync for any account that you don't need and change sync schedule to every hour or every day etc for the ones you do need.
