    I'm also kinda desperate
Ideally it's not wise to flash firmware for one model phone on to a different model, for instance the I9100 and I9100-P are the same phones nearly but one has NFC. The phone with NFC would have more menu options thus require different firmware.

You could try flashing the different firmware but I would make sure that I had proper firmware that I know works in case I have to flash again or if there are problems.

I would specifically wait for firmware specific to my model phone.

Thanks for replying, I can't find any GT-i9000t firmwares anywhere and I'm starting to lose hope that it's ever gonna release. I'll just try and see what happens with a i9000 rom, if it doesn't work, sadly I'll have to change phones

There aren't too many firmwares, in SamMobile.com, the latest 10 firmwares for your model phone include Android 2.2 for Panama

I think your best option would be a custom rom, some developers are still working on the SGS.

    Which country are you in?

I'm in Guatemala atm, sam mobile has some 2.3.6 for my model, but it's for a different country, does that really matter?
