Thank you dear lord for having listened to my prayers, and removing that annoying Media Scanner icon popping up and blocking my phone for an entire minute whenever I copied a file or disconnected my data cable. This was one of the most annoying things that bugged me on the SGS1 (apart from it being very slow in some cases), and noticed was solved on the SGS3 (either removed or it happens in the background without negative effects, don't care in either case).

I never understood why I actually NEEDED the media scanner app to begin with, and can't just browse a folder and click media files to open them like on any computer (generating thumbnails as I browse the folder). Sure, it's nice to have an automatically generated album / gallery list, but it was not worth the price of all media on my device being blocked until that annoying Media Scanner notification finished running (Android 2.3). In Android 4.0 it won't bother me any more, and I can open my files at any time and keep copying / renaming / deleting without the notification always popping up.
