Samsung Galaxy S - No back button function

The back button has stopped functioning which requires me to manually close any functions that would normally close on their own. I have downloaded the latest version of Kies and it has identified there are no upgrades for my phone. Can anyone help please?

You can't delete a new thread.

Have you spilled a drink on your phone or did anything happen to cause the back button to stop working?

It might just be a software glitch. Try taking the battery out for a few mins to see if it resets.

That's slightly better news, I'm with RichH and think it's a software error.

If it was my phone I would:

    1. Backup everything that I could...on the SGS1 I was rooted so made the whole process easier.
    2. Carry out a factory reset
    3. If the F.Reset didn't work then I would flash the same or new firmware again.

See if anyone else has any ideas before resetting or flashing firmware.

Next step for me would be reset then reflash....
If that didn't fix it it's hardware and needs new ribbon cable at a guess....
