Greenman - not sure I'd like to try that one out - i.e. this case makes the thing rigid so therefore it'll be OK if it's dropped; still think I'd like to go for something that covers the phone on both sides (i.e. the front section is raised slightly to prevent the screen directly hitting something). I could just try the case-mate barely there for the S3 because I was happy with it for the SGS, but my recent drop experience has but doubt in my mind about that one.
andy-roid - my current insurance scheme allows for 2 claims in a 12 month period, the excess on the first is £25, second £50. I think I'd rather pay a bit for a decent case and hope if I do have another unfortunate accident it will be better protected - however - dropping down the loo, leaving it in the bar, it stopping a stray bullet etc - you can't protect against everything I suppose.
Perhaps I should buy one of those "black boxes" used on an aircraft and carry my phone around in that![]()

Actually, I was quite happy with my case - cheap as it was - protecting the phone against being dropped. The problem for me was that the screen shattered without being dropped. As spenk says "you can't protect against everything". Mine was in my pocket and can only have been pressed against something or twisted.
does it help with a case? i doubt about it
