Unhappy Pattern Unlock - Help Urgently Needed Please

I lent my Galaxy S to my daughter (bad move!) and she has locked it with a pattern that she has now forgotten !

I have tried all sorts of combinations of powering up while pressing Up, Down & Home but have not been able to get it to unlock.

Can anyone please let me know if it is possible to unlock my phone - is there any software that might do it ?

If anyone can do it, I'm sure that it will be someone on here.

    Thanks in advance.

Factory reset is the ONLY option. Hold Vol Up + Home and keep holding whilst pressing the power button. Let go when you see the green man appear. Then choose "Factory Reset" by pressing vol down and choose to execute the command with the volume key. Phone will reboot after this back to default settings.

You have to press the buttons in the correct order too so home, then volume up and then power. Release power only, as soon as the Samsung logo appears on screen and then it will go into recovery. I always keep volume up and home pressed until he recovery screen is there.

    Hope this helps.

You're not holding the buttons correctly. Very carefully place your fingers on the buttons and make sure you are pushing up on the volume key. It DOES work, I promise

I've edited my post as I got it slightly wrong.

Home then volume up, then power, wait for Samsung logo and then release the power button but keep volume up and home pressed.

Fidotd, did you ever update your phone's firmware (Operating System) using Kies or Odin? There's always the possibility that there is no 3 button recovery on his phone....going back a couple of years from what I remember.

Would a USB Jig jump his phone into download mode? If there's no 3 button recovery then the options are narrowed down drastically.

Fido, can you get the phone into download mode? Same as Recovery Mode but with the Vol- button instead of Vol+

    OK - here's what happens -
I hold the 'volume up' firmly
    Hold the 'Home' firmly
Press the 'Power' until the black and white 'Samsung Galaxy i9000' screen appears (any longer and it just goes into a cycle of on / off)
Keep holding the other two buttons
Phone goes into blue animated Samsung logo screen and boots as normal while I'm still holding the damn buttons.

Mate - i can't get the phone to do anything but boot normally - even though I'm doing all the button combinations.
I have tried connecting it to Keis but there is no options to upgrade firmware or anything
