Cracked Screen - not sure of the damage

    Hi All,

First time on this forum and not sure if I have posted in the right place so fingers crossed! On the weekend my sister left my phone sitting on the boot of my car and when she went to close it, forgot the phone was there and smashed it.

The screen shows two huge cracks on each side of the phone and the whole phone was black except for a small part right at the top. Because of this we all thought it was just the screen that needed repairing. As we had just started a roadtrip there was little I could do until I got into work today. I have tried plugging it in via USB to my computer to get all the photos off etc however it won't show up as a device. I don't know if it is charging or what but when I turn it on, it makes the startup noise and then doesn't do anything. As the screen is broken I can't tell whether it is turning off or staying on or what. Whatever the reason, it is still not showing up as a device.

So my question is, is this still just a screen problem or would it have damage to the system now?

If you could let me know of any ideas, I just don't know where to look, where to get it checked out, cost etc

    Thanks,
    Beth

Hi Beth. I would guess just screen damage as the phone won't connect unless the screen is unlocked and as you can't unlock the screen you can't connect it to a PC, catch 22!!!

So when I take it into the shop to get the screen fixed, will I lose all my photos and stuff or will I be right???

They shouldn't have to flash any software to change a screen. Make sure you tell them not to !!
