    Help a dumdum out guys plz lol

    Hiya i could do with some help here lol. My galaxy s turned itself off and would not restart.I removed the battery and sim had a cuppa and rebuilt it back up. It restarted but no longer reconises the simcard. at the top of my phone is a wee picture of a sim with a red ! next to it and the no service blue circle.Ive tried other sims but they didn't work either.
    I have not carried out any updates off any sort as i wouldnt have a clue how to lol. the firmware states it as 2.1-update1 and its still on eclair too.
    Ive tried to give as much info as i know about but if anybody req some more then let me know ant thanks for the help in advance

    Sounds like a hardware fault so would need to go in for repair. Not really much you can do with software to fix issues like these....

    Usually in cases like this it is, as RichH said, a hardware fault. Have you dropped it recently?
    Alternatively, it could be a conflict with a recently installed application, or in the modem/phone part of your software, or the sim card itself (but as you've tried others we'll rule that one out)
    Before taking for repair, try a Factory Reset. Now this will remove data/apps/contacts, so backup your phone with Kies (or your preferred method)
    Now press and hold:
    Volume up + home button + power button until in Recovery Menu. Select Clear Cache then Factory reset.
