    Mine's not quite the same. It doesn't have the toggle your screen shot shows, but there's a tick-box at the top of the "Account & sync" area that's labelled "Background data", and the descriptions says "Apps can sync, send and receive data at any time". If that's not ticked, I spose it's the same as your toggle being Off?

    You are still on Gingerbread. Most of us are running ICS now. But yes, it does the same job....

    Ooo ... is that better, and is it easy to get?

    OK, don't answer the second part of that question ... I found my way to 'software update' and am now in the process.

    In Settings > Wireless and Networks > Mobile networks make sure 'use packet data' is not ticked. This is your mobile data.
    I too do it the same way! Easy n fool-proof.
