    Many Problems

    Phone Information:
    Samsung Galaxy S2
    Model Number: SPH-D710
    Android Version: 4.0.4
    Kernal Version: 3.0.15-SPH-D710.FF18-CL663858
    Hardware Version: D710.10

Hello all, I have been searching google for a few days and i haven't found any sound resolutions to the issues i'm experiencing.

First, i was in a car and i plugged my phone into the car charger, and it would not charge and would not turn on. I would only get a blink from the blue status light as if it were to turn on. but it would not boot, the screen would not engage. Once i returned home and used my home charger it charged and booted with out any issue.

Next my phone would occasionally say it was charging, and it was not plugged into anything. Also the red status light was on at all times. The only way i could get the status light to turn off would be to wake up the phone, slide away the lock screen and put it back to sleep. Sometimes it would take a few attempts.

Next my phone would would randomly reboot. It started out at once every other day and quickly escalated to a few times a day during any type of action.

Next my phone would not charge again, i had to sit the micro USB head just right or it would not make a complete connection.

After all of that, i had received the ICS update.

Next my screen would randomly turn on with out any user interaction.

Next my power/sleep/wake button is not longer responding.

At this moment the only problem that seems resolved is my charging issue, i have cleaned out the micro USB port with a toothbrush and some rubbing alcohol (phone off and battery out). I have also done a factory reset via settings. i can not do a hard reset since my power button does not work.

I have not dropped my phone, it does not have any water damage, and i just got my very first scratch on it a 3 weeks ago (owned the phone since November 3rd. I treat my phone like gold. I do not download any apps that are not from the Play Store and my phone is not rooted. I am considering sending my phone it try and get it replaced, but i would still like to know if there are any at home remedies i can try before i am with out a phone for any extended period of time.

If you require any other information feel free to ask. Thank you for your time! i'll be watching this post like a hawk.

Some of the easiest remedies are:

    1. Turn phone off and take battery out, leave it for 10 or 15 minutes and then replace battery and turn on.
    2. Factory reset - Will reset to phone so contacts, settings, accounts, applications, preferences etc will be removed. Essentially how the phone was when you first got it except for the phone's software, if you have updated the firmware then that will be fine.

Not as easy but still pretty simple with the right guide.

    3. Flash the phone with the same firmware which you currently have or a modern one which suites your phone's region, model and network.

Edit: If after step 2 you encounter the same problems then definitely try no.3, if you still have the same problems it's your phone.

i have done each of these steps, step 1 and 2 prior to your recommendation, and step 3 as you instructed. My screen is still turning on and off as it pleases and my power button still does not respond.

Well, it turns out that my phone is fixed.

    No action was taken.

I left my phone home on saturday and pressed the power button when i woke up, in a sleepy haze i pressed it again to put the screen to sleep. I had to double take at my phone. I was shocked it just started working again out of the blue.
