Dear Friends,

I got a Samsung Galaxy SII - SGH-1777 of AT&T carrier.

Currently I am using it in India on Vodafone network and working well...

Can I upgrade My phone to the latest android version i.e. 4.0 ice cream sandwich...?

Have got the Upgrade message in my setting menu.

And if I upgrade it to 4.0, will it cause any damage..

Kindly Help...

If your phone works well then it's fine don't upgrade.

Updating to 4.0.4 will mean there is a big change so some things may go wrong. No damage will be caused. If you do update, back up all your items first as you may have to factory reset if you encounter any problems.

Check your firmware by dialing *#1234#

If in India you will not be able to install via Kies, but can with Odin.

Option is usually only available to phones running generic open firmware and you must have and be signed in to your Samsung account....

Try using Kies, but if you don't have the firmware and Sales Code (CSC) of the country you are in, then that will also fail.
The option is to dial *#1234# on your phone and then look on sammobile.com for your firmware.
Check for any updates to download and unzip to your computer.
