Struggling!!

Tried to connect to Kies this morning, to cut long story short, couldn't!
so I have removed kies from pc.
Now, where's the best place to get a nice clean install of up to date Kies?

It's usually not Kies but the drivers that cause the problem.
The Samsung site best for a Kies install, but try searching Google for the drivers only.
I can post a link, but not sure if the latest version

Right, I hoofed Kies off my PC, I have downloaded it afresh, as soon as I opened it, it wanted to upload a newer version!!
So, did that, connected my phone and eventually it was recognised and connected. So I went straight for back up and sellected the bits I wanted saving, it then ent into preparing to back up mode...... 10 mins later and its still in preparing to back up mode!!!!! Doh!
How long shall I give it to complete this preparing stage?

Ok, so 15 minutes has elapsed since it went into this preparing to back up mode............ still doing it? The cancel back up button is greyed out, so can only exit by unplugging the phone or some other drastic measure.... or should I leave it a little longer?????

So, I gave it another 5 mins in preparing to back up mode, still nothing had happened.. Si I disconnected and used task manager on PC to shut Kies down.. Now re booted Kies, re-connected SGS2, selected less items to back up and off we go again. in preparing to back up mode..... and still waiting, waiting and blah, blah, blahhhhh!
What shall/can I do next!

Hi again, well its beat me this time, deleted kies reinstalled kies, deleted kies, reinstalled kies, deleted kies, reinstalled kies and still cannot get past the preparing to back up screen after selecting files to back up....

I have even tried just backing up a single file, hoping it was just 1 that was causing the problem, but tried several 1's and still cannot get past the preparing to back up screen. The only way out then is to force close kies with the PC task manager (Stop process) method, stopping application has no effect whatsoever. I have looked at the amAgent, but it seems people are having trouble using this on ICS fimware. Think I am going to try a different PC when I get home ............................

Very, Very, Very, Frustrated. And I am not easily frustrated!!!!!

Right folks, finally upgraded to the latest ICS variant, at 02:05 this morning!!!! What a farce!!
I will take this thread into the ICS problem after update page to stay on topic...
