    s2 turning itself off

My s2 has started randomly switching itself off. It happened first thing this morning, could be a concidence but a few minutes after switching it back on it did an auto update from 4.0.3 to 4.0.4. During the day it has switched itself off about 3 times.

Can't get it back on without removing and replacing the battery. As I write it has just re-started on it's on. Would appreciate any advice. (phone not rooted)

Bad app or a software conflict. Try doing a factory reset.

I did that and installed about half my apps back and it managed to stay on overnight but switched itself off once at 10am. Might it be the battery?

If your phone worked OK under 4.0.3, then the 4.0.4 update should not have caused problems.
It sounds like you had an Over The Air (OTA) update and quite possibly didn't download and install as it should have.
I would be looking at reinstalling the 4.0.4 update or reverting back to 4.0.3 if that worked ok for you.
You can try Kies, but it will not allow you to roll back. For that you will need Odin (like Kies but better for firmware)

If you want to try an Odin re-flash and want some guidance, can you give your current firmware by dialling *#1234# on your phone.

Ok. For Information on Odin go to this site:
    http://androidfirmwares.net/Guide/Details/2

For your firmware go here and download (if password required it is usually sammmobile.com)
    Unzip once only.

Just reporting back for anyone who might find this. I didn't go down the re-flashing route but instead tried disabling a few applications. Was still having 1-3 switchings off a day (for 5days) until I disabled Easy Battery Saver and since then (about 3.5 days ago) all has been fine.

I am having the same problem since upgrading to 4.0.4 phone is switching off and battery is draining in a matter of hours. Have to pull the battery to reset phone.

Apps that I am running are

    Juicedefender
    3G Watchdog Pro
    Business Calendar
    Facebook
    Twitter
    Nova Launcher
    PLAYER PRO
    Snappz Pro
    Super Backup
    Tweet Lanes

Have done a factory reset and phone is still switching off. This is doing my head in.

    Any suggestion.

    Thanks
