OK, make a folder called "GT I9100"
Save the Odin and fw files to the folder. Extract the fw file once only, to the same folder, you will get one file called I9100XWLPT_I9100XXLQ6_I9100XEULPA_HOME.tar.md5.
extract the flasher and pit file. This will give you the odin prog and the pit file.
Open odin and click on the box that says "Pit". A box will open for you to search for the pit file, so navigate to your folder called GT I9100 and double click on the pit file you just extracted and it will load into the box. Do the same for the "PDA" box, and load in the .tar.md5 file.
Connect your cable and wait fir the drivers to install and the comms box to go yellow, then hit start and wait 5 mins....

Hi RichH, Been reading some of the comments about ICS 4.0.4. Do you think I should just upgrade to Jelly Bean (v4.1)? If so, is the process identical to the one above? Would appreciate your thoughts (or anyone else's).

Process is exactly the same if flashing via Odin but JB not officially released for S2 yet so you would have to flash a custom ROM which is usually done by installing a .zip off your SD card using CWM recovery. However, you need to get your phone working first to do this.....

G-d bless Wi-Fi and GooglePlay automatic updates! Through a serendipitous update message, I was able to get to a browser screen and download Go Launcher Ex from the Play Store using my Wi-Fi connection which somehow worked. I installed the Go Launcher on my phone and voila! My phone works!!! I am trying it out at the moment and getting used to the cool things (and some of the frustrating ones as well). If my device remains stable and the battery life and heating up issues disappear, I will leave well enough alone. If not, I will do the Odin and factory reset as per your kind instructions...I'll try and keep you posted!

You should be OK now but remember you cannot do a factory reset as TWL has been deleted from your phone and if you did a reset you Go Launcher would be deleted so you would be back to square one....

Well, then what do you suggest in order to get the TWL back?

As you can't download it as an app you have to reflash the firmware.... This was where we started the convo yesterday....

That's what i was hoping ....so, bottom line, if the Go Launcher proves to be unstable, or if I have additional issues, I will reflash the firmware and upgrade to v4.0.4 and THEN I will do a factory reset and hope for the best ;-)
