Your only option is to download Odin and f/w off www.sammobile.com and reflash. It sounds like you don't have a launcher installed and you won't be able to do jack with out one.....

It seems my phone and my mates phone still have issues (both have been Reset). The problem this time is with email, My mate has Gmail and Lineone Accounts on his phone, after the update his Gmail set up fine but after putting in the Username & Password for his Lineone Account it kept failing the connection trying to verify the Account etc, the next day it went through first time so I thought it must have been a problem with Lineone's servers. On my phone I have Gmail and two other Accounts (Both VirginMedia), after the update all Accounts seemed to set up fine initially but now if I try to check\change the settings for either VM Account it fails the connection.
Seems I've fixed the problem, I deleted the mail accounts on the Phone (except for my Gmail account which seemed to be working) but I was still unable to set up the accounts again, always getting the connection failed error, I then went on the computer and cleared out all the mail (I use IMAP on the computer for all accounts) from the accounts, then went back on the phone, both mail accounts set up first time and seem to be working normally at the minute, will see if they keep working over next few days.

I just updated my Samsung Galaxy II to the Android 4.0.4. Since then nothing works correctly. First my bluetooth devices lost their pairing and now cannot be re-paired to my phone. My network strength has gone done to 1 bar where I used to have 4. I see there are a slew of other issues others are having. How can this be fixed? I have not noticed any helpful advice from Google. This is an android OS update issue and needs to be fixed. How do we fix this? There has got to be a better way than factory resetting the phone. That seems ridiculous! Please tell me there is another easier better way
You can try going to individual applications in Settings and Clear Data to see if that will iron out the problem, but unfortunately I would suggest that a Factory reset is the answer. It's not as bad as it used to be with the option backup and restore from Google servers in Settings.
Anything on your internal or external USB will not be touched. Contacts, messages and apps will all be deleted. Basically it resets the system partition only....
