    Question Problem after Update

    Hi,

My phone received an Android update today to V4.0.4 and since the update I have had an icon in my Apps list called com.candyspacemedia.samsung.suggests, if I run it I get a warning which says "Unfortunately, TwLauncher has stopped", I click OK and then Samsung Suggests opens.

I have cleared cache and data from com.candyspacemedia.samsung.suggests and TwLauncher but didn't make any difference, any idea how I can correct this?

    Regards

    Craig

It sounds like you need to do a wipe data/factory reset, which should be done after all firmware updates.

If you need help with how to do that, post back and let us know and someone will help you.

    Hi Richard,

I was just thinking that because I also have a problem with the BT in my car, it connects fine but now I always get a message on the phone saying the BT Transfer has stopped while transferring the phonebook, it has always worked fine before. I didn't do a reset for any of the previous updates including ICS, the only thing I did different this time was that all previous updates were done through Kies, this time it was done via WiFi\3G. My mates phone has also updated today and he has the same com.candyspacemedia.samsung.suggests icon and problem so at least I know it's not just my phone.

I'm just going to do a backup then I'll do a factory reset. What is the best way to do the reset, I was just going to use the Backup Data & Account options and also a backup in Kies to be sure then Factory Reset?

    Regards

    Craig

Did a Backup and Factory Reset last night which has cleared the com.candyspacemedia.samsung.suggests icon, not had chance to see if I'm able to transfer the Phonebook to the car via BT yet.

    Sorry for not replying sooner.

The best way is to power phone off, wait till it vibrates.

Then press and hold the following keys:
Volume Up + home + power.
When phone boots to the Samsung Galaxy S screen release just the power key.
The next screen you see should be the recovery screen, it'll say in blue at the top 3e recovery.
Look for wipe data/factory reset, use Vol up and Vol down to scroll to it, use home or power to ok the selection.
Next look for wipe cache and follow the same as above.

When your done look for reboot.

    Hi there

I've had both of the problems described here after updating my S2 to 4.0.4, the candyspacemedia and the Bluetooth problem.

In addition, now my data connection keeps dropping out intermittently. E.g. I'll go to use the internet browser, point it to Google but it times out with an error, or pops up a dialogue window saying "No Connection". Usually after a couple more attempts it comes back to life. I didn't have this problem before 4.0.4.

I think there's been similar problems on the Nexus after doing some surfing. Have any other Galaxy users experienced this kind of problem on 4.0.4 and is there a fix?

I guess I should try this wipe too

I think the usual method is to factory reset after updating to Android 4.0.* from Android 2.*, this will solve most problems but is a slight pain in the proverbial.

    Good name you have there.

It certainly wont hurt to do a wipe data/factory reset and in many cases it sorts out most problems. If you have you phone all set up make sure you have your contacts, pictures ect backed up before you do it as it wipes things like that.
You will also have set up you accounts, like google and samsung and your email accounts.

I've just usedf Kies to back up all my files (although for some reason the backup kept failing if I tried to back up the call log, but I can do without that). Not being used to doing factor resets and total wipes how do all my applications that I've downloaded from the Android Market get re-installed after the reset? Sorry if it's a naive question.

    Richard

Incidentally, one of the other posts said about needed a factory reset when going from 2.0.x to 4.0.x. I was simply updating from 4.0.3 to 4.0.4 so not a massive jump.

Once the wipe data/factory reset has been done, you set your phone up again as if it was a new phone just out of the box. You will re-enter your google account details, this in turn allows you to use google play store. In google play store you will find my apps, and then a list of all your apps, just tap on each one and download again.

When ever there's an update to the phones firmware, whether it's from GB or ICS it's always a good move to do a wipe data/factory reset after every update, it just makes sure there isn't anything left of the previous version, and it avoids any conflicts between old and new versions.

I do a wipe data/factory reset before and after every update, this gives a clean install.
