S2 not offering to save contacts on SIM card

Having problems storing contacts to my SIM card. I have stored every phone number I have on the SIM card. I've always been given the option of store to Phone or to SIM Card. Now I'm only being given the option to store to Phone or to Google. About a week ago right when the SIM option disappeared the Google option appeared. My local carrier (GCI) doesn't have a clue. I only have 252 contacts saved and I'm told the SIM card is 65KB. Have I filled it up already? Tried to find information for used and available room on the SIM card but can't find how to check that. Really don't want to store numbers with Google. Galaxy S2 GT-I9100. I have never done any of the updates Galaxy always offers when I fire it up and I only have a few small apps I've added, and haven't added any for at least 6 months. Any help is appreciated.

Option has probably been removed as it is very limiting. The phone will allow many more options for your contacts if stored on the phone and if backed up to Google you will never loose any. Why would you buy a Google phone and then refuse to use their services?
