    Oh yeah

So got the S3 and turned it on, the apps started to install and update themselves again....but before this happened I just cut the data connection and restarted.
When you boot for the first time there's an option to backup and restore with Google, I completely forgot about this and ticked them. If you were not to tick these options on startup then I don't the phone will auto install the apps.

Haven't had too much time to mess with it as I had a 2 hour lunch, my manager also knows what I'm like when I get a new phone so she knows I'll just sit and play with it.

Edit: Was jsut about to go into GooglePlay and share an app....noticed that it's put short cuts already on my phone. Not as many as before but that's because I have disassociated my SGS 1 from Google Play.

Once the market begins to restore apps, you can go to /settings/apps/manage apps/all/market or play/force stop and it will end the restore.

Thank you for your alternative solution but it's far easier to hold the power button down and restart.

Besides, the point is that Google Play should have settings on the Google Play account which allows you to stop this, rather than on an app...or even give you the choice when you going through the setup process.
For people who do not know this and start up there phone on a data connection, they will be downloading 15 to 40 apps across a data connection and wasting their allowance or even incurring charges.

I just don't understand why these big companies think that we can't look after ourselves and we need everything done for us.

Maybe they get it from the Government Or they're trying to get us to rely on them Or both and more
