Kies not recognising Samung Galaxy II

    Kies version 2.3.2.12064_9

re-installed a number of times to no avail. Once connected through USB, Kies loads up but just hangs on "connecting" but still responds.

    Your help appreciated.

    Thanks

Hello, had this with my colelagues S2. I resolved by trying twenty times and different USB ports.

I think the USB debugging option needs to be either ticked or unticked. The USB debugging is either under Applications or Wifi in the settigns menu...can't remember.

OK, first thing is that it's useful to give whether PC or Mac, and then the Operating System
Windows 7 appears to cause many people problems, so see if Kies can be run in compatability mode (I use XP and no problem)

Secondly, getting the phone drivers on your computer , so that it recognises your phone is a common problem.
The installation of drivesr happens when you first connect to Kies, so just check (if a PC) in the computer Device Manager that there are no errors when phone connected (Yellow !)

If you think drivers are a problem, uninstall them and reinstall from this link:http://uploaded.to/file/xeczx9xt

Finally, whatever you are trying to do with Kies can be done (often better) with apps from the Market, or in the case of updating firmware, with a programme called Odin - but you still need the phone to be recognised so focus on the drivers on the computer.

EDIT: In answer to Tufftoad's message, have USB debugging on during driver installation, then have USB debugging off when connecting to Kies if a problem (although I just leave USB debugging on)

    Thanks for the quick replies.

Should have indeed given the operating sytem - it is Win XP Pro

Am going through another re-install of Kies (have uninstalled including the Samsung drivers and used CC cleaner to remove all trace).

There was an errror message flashing up previously that the hardware couldn't be recognised.

Will let all know once the re-install is done.

    Thanks again.

Windows XP Pro should carry out the job fine.
Think it is just a driver error - Kies really can be a pain and would suggest by passing to get the drivers.
Once you have them installed then try Kies again.

One more tip.... Have your home screen open (ie, not on lock screen) when you connect phone to PC.

The bundled Samsung driver with Kies was v1.5.6.0. There was a yellow exclamation mark in the device driver against the phone citing error code 1.

I uninstalled it and installed v1.5.4.0 as suggested.

Still a yellow exclamation mark against Android MTP (code 1)

Have you got your antivrus on? Try turning off when installing.
    Also try another USB port.
Doesn't really mater that it's an earlier driver software as it will update through windows, but will check for a newer version and post.

That unfortunately didn't work either. Still the yellow exclamation mark even when plugging into different USB port.
