    ICS and annoyances

Okay it was bad enough that I had to download and install this iTunes wannabe in order to upgrade to Android 4, but now after removing this bloatware that had three processes running all the time eating RAM I get an annoyance screen on the phone every time I connect.
"Unable to find software on your PC that can recognize your device." And it drones on to explain how you MUST have all these different options on Windows XP and where you need to go to download kies so you can sync and back up data. Really? All the Android phones I've had do that on their own anyway, including this one before I installed the new OS. Does Samsung really need to annoy the hell out of me in order to pander their mostly useless software??

Further, since I upgraded when I open the folder to where pictures are stored on my phone (amazingly withOUT any "software that can recognize my device") and I double click on a picture instead of opening in the program I have set as default to open them (it even shows the icon for that program on all the files) it opens Windows photo viewer. WTF?? Holy CRAP Samsung is turning in to Apple and doing things that were the root cause for me to get rid of my iPhone with full prejudice and switch to the Droid!

Quite a rant, but a bit short on clarity (for me anyway!!)
Is the iTunes wannabe - Kies?, if so do what many of us have done and dump it and upgrade firmware with Odin.
Can't understand the bit about 'the folder where pictures are stored on my phone'
On your phone pictures can be viewed perfectly well in the Gallery app.
If you connect via USB or wireless (I prefer Airdroid to Kies Air) then it is your settings on the computer that decide which programme to view them in.
So if you have selected Windows photo viewer, that's what you get. But there are many other ways - I use Picassa, but there's a whole bunch of programmes you could use.
If I've got your issues wrong then a little more clarity would help me to understand.

No, when connected with USB looking at pictures on the phone in windows it opens Windows picture viewer instead of IrfanView. If I drag them off of the phone onto the desktop first it uses IrfanView like it should. Somehow the phone is interfering with the preferences in Windows.

For the other issue I didn't really want anything all the time to update it with, I just want to nag screen on the phone to go away. I mean, what programmer came up with that idea to make window pop-up if there is no sync software detected? Was he an idiot? Worked for Apple? Transferred in from marketing??

You will need to set the default viewer for your USB connected devices.
The pop up message is there to help people who don't know that they need to install Kies.
Regardless of any "software" available for your device, the drivers are now installed so windows will recognise it as a USB connection........

That would be incorrect, it still pops up the nag window and as I said Windows 7 recognized it just fine. It opens the windows picture viewer even though IrfanView is selected as the default viewer AND it shows the IrfanView icon.

If the nag screen is only to inform rather that force it should do it once and stop after I uncheck the box "Do not show this again" like all other informative pop-ups on Android.

Sorry to hijack, but along with other new users, I can't start my own thread Perhaps a kind moderator can move this?

    Original post:
Hello everyone I was a proud owner of my Galaxy Note back in May, but I've been having frustrating problems with Samsung Kies. Every time I try to back up the files, my phone would say that wssuncmlnps has crashed/stopped. I can't find any solution online or in the forums. Please, please, I'm begging you I'm so frustrated with my phone. I went from a 3GS to my GN, but so far I have been very unsatisfied. First, the battery problem (yes, I have 4.0.4), now I can't even back up my phone.

I haven't rooted my phone. I successfully backed up my contacts on my computer, but if I try to select anything else, wssuncmlnps will crash.

I'm at the verge of tears, but I need my S Note contents, SMS contents, etc.

    Yours,
    Notey

There are many apps on Play that will allow you to back up SMS, calandar notes etc. Do a search to find something that suits you. No need to use Kies anything....

Can you suggest some, please? I want to be able to backup S Memo and SMS text as well Most are just for moving music and vidoes

Well, it's official: I hate my GN. S Memo crashes when trying to sync to Google Docs, processes (wssuncmlnps, for example) crash unexpectedly and frequently, battery drain - all of this happening when I updated to ICS.

Thanks Samsung. You have now given me an expensive paperweight. Thanks.
