    Hey there,

First post for me, and I still need help with this issue!

OK I think I may be being stupid. Why does my phone tell me it is low on space and only has 207mb left out of 2 gb, when I can see on the computer that it has 8.2gb free? What is the point in this 8gb if you can't access it/put app into it etc.

I can't seem to get anywhere with freeing up space I shouldn't need to free up, and I am not confident enough to start messing around on option 3. Any clues?

    Thanks

As said before, it's because the storage space is partitioned. The 8,2Gb is your space to store photos, videos etc, the system has its own partitions for the OS and apps data, which is what is full. You need to boot into recovery and clear cache, if that doesn't work then its a factory reset, again from recovery menu.

So I can only have 500mb of apps, and a mostly empty hard drive? That seems like really poor design. Is it worth upgrading to the S3 or is that just as flawed? This makes the IPhone look like a good option!

Or wait for Jelly Bean to be released, this should solve that problem. Although the S3 is good

Its actually 2Gb, not 500Mb, and it means that your personal data can be stored in a protected space that is not formatted when you do a factory reset. So, if your phone crashes and you have to reset you don't loose any photos or videos, but yes, the "problem" is overcome in Jelly Bean as the drive is no longer partitioned so all the space is available.

I'm also confident that if you think an iPhone is a good option, go buy one and see - you'll be back to Android in no time

It just seems a little amount when there is 1.5gb of operating system on there, would and extra 500mb have hurt, I mean really, with all that External SD space you can plug in? lol

Seriously though thanks for the advice guys, much appreciated. Nice to know there is somewhere good to go for help. I wouldn't really go to Apple, I'm not a sheep D I can't afford the S3 at the moment and on the whole am very happy with my S2.

When is Jelly Bean rolled out, do you guys know?

It's been released now, country by country, so you should be getting it within the next month I would guess.

I don't know if you already have solved the problem, but I was able to fix mine by clearing the memory.

    <Apps>
Choose <Widgets> on top instead of Apps
    Select <Active Applications>
    Choose <RAM> on top
Read what's written about RAM manager
    Press <Clear Memory>

When I did this, the annoying (Low Storage ...) that pops out was gone.

    Hope this helps.
