Wi-Fi Abroad

Hi All
Hope to use free wi-fi abroad, without incurring roaming charges. Could members give an idiot proof guide?? Please note, needs to be relativley simple!!!

Do you know how to use WiFi now. If so it's the same

Make sure in settings, that packet data and data roaming are unticked. As they will use your network and charge you

If you din't want to use your phone to make or receive calls or texts, then easiest way is to remove your sim card. You can still use wifi networks.
If you want to retain your phone functions, then go to Settings > Wireless and network ... More > Mobile networks and make sure data roaming + use packet data are not ticked.

BTW Mobile roaming charges in EU have been substantially reduced from 1 July following an EU ruling, but check with your network operator.

I used wi-fi a lot on holiday (my hotel had free wi-fi) Just make sure mobile data is off and data roaming like what has been said and you will be fine.
