Yes for CoPilot but with Google the area is for 10km more or less, so when abroad unless you stay in that perimeter you will pay for the data. Unless you make stops, use wifi and reload for another part of the trip. Correct me if I'm mistaken!

You got it, no corrections to be made
That's the downside to Google Maps.
The pre-cache of Google Maps appears to have changed on LFB. I went to do Tufftoad's 'voila' procedure as I did on ALF2 and it wasn't there.
You can now either:
Go to the map location you want to cache > menu > make available offline > pan and zoom to select area
or
maps (top left) > my places > offline > new offline map > type in the city/region or select on the map > pan and zoom to select area
It estimates the approximate storage size for the map upto about 80MB, then it complains the area is too large.
So there we are. 'Voila' again. As the Italians say.
I could be wrong, I usually am. (Because it's only a phone)

I think it would be better to try one of the apps like sygic or copilot that download the whole of great britain to the sdcard. Will save any accidental massive mobile data bills, either that or get an unlimited plan. These new phones really shine when you don't need to worry about data usage.
I use Navfree for free offline satnav.
I tried copilot and found the interface busy for my tired old eyes.

My SIII picks up the signal without any problem. My problem is Google Maps. It takes so long to download data it must be hamster powered
Co-Pilot thankfully does not have that problem.
How much does copilot cost as have downloaded but no price has been mentioned anywhere on the playstore
Basic copilot is free but has no voice guidance. Upgrade to Premium can vary as Copilot have frequent offers. Currently the UK premium has Live Traffic for free.
