External Speaker won't work!!! (no speaker phone, ring tones, music etc)

I've had this phone for 3 weeks. When I turned it on this morning it no longer was able to make noises from its external speaker. I missed a call because the phone didn't play the ring tone. I also noticed it doesn't work with speaker phone and pandora does not play music. I tried a factory reset from the settings - privacy menu but it didn't resolve the issue. I have sprint and the phone was purchased from newegg.

Any help??? Thanks!

I don't believe it! after an hour it randomly started making noises again.. What do you guys think I should do? I didn't change a single setting since I gave up an hour ago. Is this thing going to be intermittantly reliable? I mean I have not touched a single thing on the phone and suddenly it started working correctly.

Don't suppose you've had a headset plugged in before this happened?
Just thinking, you may have had a mechanical problem in that the headphone plug cuts off the external speaker and may have become stuck when removed.

I like the idea but unfortunately I haven't put a headphone into the speaker since 2 days ago. I tried putting a headphone into it about 10 mins before it started working again however to see if it had any sound ability and sure enough pandora would play through the head phones but not through the external speaker. As I said, about 10 mins after that the speakers magically started working again. Maybe it has some ground issue on the 3.5 mm jack? The thing that is strange is that it didn't immediately start working upon insertion/removal of the head phones.

If it happens again try giving it a light tap at the headphone end and see if it helps.
Reckon it's socket related by your description.

I too have a sound issue. It doesn't have outgoing sound anymore. It acts as if its on silent when I get a call, a notification text or alert or when alarm is set. Phone screen will light up, but no sound comes out, even if volume is way up. I have a galaxy S2 & had this phone for little over a year now. All functions still work normally, sound is my only problem. I am able to still voice text & my phone also detects my voice if its on speaker but will not send sound back to my caller. Only time I am able to hear them is if I remove speaker feature. This problem happened 2 days ago while I was currently talking on my phone when it was on speaker mode. Sound only works if I use Bluetooth on my external speaker to hear all alert notifications, my ringtones, Pandora & YouTube. Bought my phone from Best Buy mobile from AT&T. What can I do to fix this issue? I already removed battery, mini SD & chip from AT&T. I already did this over night & 2 more times after. I shut down my phone 5 times to reset as well.
