SGS 3 i9300 SIM Free O2 UK. Stock.
SGS 3 i9305 SIM Free Dev Tool. Galaxy Project ROM.
I connected to Kies via my data cable but no update? Im on O2. My S2 is still on version 2.3.5 what if anything can I do?
You've missed out a few updates, so Kies will not help until you're only one update behind.
Only option is to update firmware using Odin (which is far better than Kies) and then check on Kies for any future updates.
Is your phone locked to O2 (if you cannot use another network sim cards then you are network locked)?
If so, you can only update with O2 firmware.
Just to be sure, dial *#1234# on your dialler to show your current firmware.
Latest O2 firmware for your phone is version 4.0.3

Hi all,
I have a problem in the update issue of my galaxy s2.
my android version is : 2.3.6, and model number :GT-I9100G.
So when I click to check for updates, the following message appears: "No update available".
So how should I update it to the new ICS.???
Note that I have installed the existing firmware from SamMobile including arabic keyboard (because I need the arabic keyboard)
Best Regards,
lalas
As you have looked on Kies, and found no update, the alternative is to install your own firmware using Odin (like Kies but much better)
This is what you need to do:
1. Check if your phone is unlocked to any network by dialling
*#7465625# = Check the phone lock status
You are looking for 'No' in each case.
2. If unlocked then you can install any I9100G firmware on your phone.
Go to http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?p...m=GT-I9100&r=1 and select FIRMWARE at the top of page.
In 'Search' put i9100G
From the list, download the firmware of your choice, as all will work on your phone.
3. Now look at this site for 'flashing guide with Odin':
http://androidfirmwares.net/Guide/Details/2
Follow the information carefully, and if not sure here is a video from Cnet, but use your own firmware:
