Did you notice the SGSII becoming smoother and faster?

4.03 on my SGSII is quite sluggish. Not as smooth and slick as Gingerbread was.

My 4.0.3 was smooth and quick. This is about the same.
Did you factory reset and Clear cache before and after installing ICS?

I did it both before and after.

I tried 3 UK branded firmware and UK unbranded and both were sluggish compared to Gingerbread.

It's as if the phone has to think about what it must do when a button or icon is touched before it actually does anything. With Gingerbread it was instant.

I have been on the verge of returning to Gingerbread, so hopefully 4.04 will improve matters or it will be back to Gingerbread.

    I will try it tomorrow.

Know what you mean. I did return to Gingerbread for a few days then came back to ICS and that made a real difference both in better battery and smoother.
    May be worth a try.

Flashed yesterday and it is running fine.

Faster than 4.03 but still not as fast as gingerbread was in my opinion.

Wifi connects much faster. Took far too long on 4.03.

Just to update that have after the concerns of the Open Europe 4.0.4, decided to give the Russian version from Sammobile a run.
So far, so good, although getting the impression that GPS lock is not as quick as previous (4.0.3) firmware.
Always difficult to judge when cloud cover can affect speed of locking on - and in the UK the cloud cover has been pretty well permanent for a while.
Everything else running smoothly and a lot more games included - if they appeal to you.

I have temporarily gone back to Gingerbread, because of the possible risk.

I didn't want to go back to ICS 4.03 because it is sluggish compared to Gingerbread.

Picked up my SGSII this morning and saw a prompt to do an over the air upgrade.

Anyone know anything about this upgrade?

Is it the version that can brick your phone under certain conditions?

I am currently running UK unbranded.
