AT&T ICS and NFC

Greetings all,

I got the AT&T stock ICS (the first time ) and am trying to figure out NFC. Anyone know if it is supposed to work? (Battery says NFC on it.) I have seen a checkbox on other ICS phones in settings to turn it on, but don't see it on my i-777. And all the NFC on Play Store say not compatible. Confused...

I understand that the 1-777 has the NFC module but has been disabled by the carrier.
