How to insert text in forum text box?

Hi there
I'm a complete newby to smartphones so please excuse if the question is dumb

I've managed to browse to an online forum (using the Google Search widget, I think!) on my phone - most things work fine, but if I hit "reply" to a forum post the text-box opens, and it even establishes a cursor in there - but my phone's keyboard does not pop up like it usually does if one clicks in a text-box. So I cant insert any text

It's a board based forum powered by Moodle, if that makes any difference?

How can I get around this?

Could be you have to register and sign in to reply.

Sorry Greenman - I should have said - this is a forum that you cant even see the boards and user posts unless you are logged in. The keyboard popped up find to let me insert my username and password and I was logged in OK so it must be something else?

Had a look at Moodle and looks as if it's set up for iPhone but the Android app is unfinished.

An alternative may be to view as a desktop, from Menu option.

I see there is supposed to be an app called mPage, they say it is available in the marketplace, but I cant find it...
There are other "moodle" apps but they have dreadful reviews!

Appears mPage is 'under development' for Android.
