Music slows down / gets "blurry" at higher speeds on the road

    Hi,

I've come across something yesterday on the road which hasn't happened before yet, and surprised me a bit.

Basically, I listen to music on my S2 while riding my motorbike, and yesterday I noticed that at higher speeds the music gets slower and even "blurry", sounded similar to the old (showing my age now) tape disks when the tape was dirty or stuck or lose. I keep my S2 in my right side pocket inside my jacket, and noticed when while this problem appears I press lightly against the phone it returns to normal again. Sometimes it stays normal for a little while, sometimes it reverts back to this 'broken' sound as soon as I stop pressing it lightly.

Later I shut the phone down and powered it back up, hoping that may sort it out, but the problem still persists. It appears it's not every time it happens. Earlier this morning at higher speeds nothing happened, later on it returned however.

I appreciate that this problem is likely difficult to reproduce, and I haven't heard of anyone else yet with a similar problem. If anyone does have an idea or knows what it could be, I'd appreciate your input.

    Thanks

You don't say how you connect, but guess it's via bluetooth.
You could try a wired connection to narrow down the possible causes - e.g. is it the music programme/software or bluetooth. I suspect not as the pressure on the phone suggests a hardware issue.

Ah sorry, I forgot about that. I connect using a wired head phone, not bluetooth. Programme is the default S2 music app which comes with Android 2.3.5

Colleague of mine suggests could've been heat, but I would've thought though that it'd be the other way around, more heat at lower speeds and when going faster the heat would be lower. Also don't remember the phone being hot when I took it out of the jacket.

    haha no, not that fast
basically it starts appearing around 60mph, and for whatever reason it gets worse the faster I go. It's quite weird/peculiar indeed, and if anyone would tell me that I'd also be wondering what the person's taken that morning... :|

So chances are it may be a hardware error? What could affect it and how can that be prevented, if anyone has any idea?

    Thanks

From your description the pressure on the phone suggests a loose connection, possibly your headphone socket.
Only way to check is to wiggle the plug in the socket to see if you can replicate the problem.
I think unlikely, but could also be some kind of software issue.
Start with the least disruptive and find your music player in Settings > Applications > 'Music player' and Clear data.
This doesn't clear your music, but the music player data.
Restart application and see if it helps.

    Next is a factory reset.

Next is a reflash of firmware.

Just a strange thought but would this have anything to do with the accelerometer function?

Could always try different head phones.

Or maybe the music is trying to keep up with your speeds

Yeah, I asked a friend of mine to borrow her 2nd earphones last night though I don't really think it's that. usually when my earphones die (and they die frequently, which is why I don't bother buying expensive ones, I break them too), either the left or right side sound dies off. This case it's different.

That said however with her earphones all was fine so far, which baffles me even more... (last night and this morning). Will see again tonight and if again, it does appear to be the earphones after all O_o

If indeed, then much fuss about something small, lol... Thanks for your input so far, I'll keep this updated after the weekend in regards to if earphones or not
