Activity Camera (in application Camera) is not responding

    Hi,

I have had my Galaxy S (on Vodafone) for about 9 months and so far so good - very impressed.

Not sure what has happened - in the past few weeks the camera has stopped working. I don't think anything updated as I was out and about at the time.

When I press the camera icon - the screen goes blank and phone freezes for about 2 minutes and then the following message appears:

Activity Camera (in application Camera) is not responding
    Force close / wait

    Only force close works.

I have searched the web and have found a couple of similar problems - advice was to factory reset - which I did. Still doesn't work.

The funny thing is - when I un-mount the SD card - the camera works fine! The phone doesn't seem right any more - some applications fail to start and I don't seem to be able to get emails unless I am in range of wi-fi. Also 3G doesn't seem to work anymore.

Have called Vodafone who have suggested as the phone still under warranty I can send it back for repair or take it to a Vodafone shop for someone to have a look at.

Has anyone else come across this problem and is it worth taking into a Vodfone shop?

    Hope someone can help.

    Cheers!

After you did the factory reset, did you re apply your settings for your email accounts, APN's etc....? A factory reset will delete all these settings and you might need to set them up again. As for the camera problem, it appears that it is an issue with your SD card. I suggest you copy off any photos you want to keep and reformat the card through the phone menu first. If that doesn't work try to reformat the card through windows. Choose exFat or Fat32 as your format option..

Do you have the camera settings to save pictures to the external SD card? Worth checking, if so change it back to phone and see if that helps.

That is the only obvious connection that I could think of but have never heard of the problem before or encountered myself.

Posted at the same time, definitely sounds like an issue with the SD card or the housing for the SD card.

@JonoG - Also do you have any other issues with the SD card, for instance images on the sd card no showing Gallery? Or not being able to access videos/music stored on the Sd card?
