    Kies connection problem

I've never had any problem with Kies, but all of a sudden it is not connecting to my GS2.

When I connect to the phone by USB, it beeps as before, Kies starts up automatically and Windows says the phone is connected. But after a pause Kies says "Cannot start service on the device..."

As far as I know there has been no change to the phone. I have reinstalled Kies and the device driver on the PC, but no difference.

    Any ideas please?

I had a fair bit of messing about with mine (I've just got an S2), it turned out that the USB cable was the problem. The phone didn't like the aftermarket adapting thing I'd got with an accessory but it was fine with the Samsung cable.
I have noticed that it doesn't feel so nice slipping on to a dock I bought either.
I'm wondering if that little USB port is a weak spot.
I might go to charging using something other than the phone & try to minimise using the USB port.

Ideally you should be using the wire given to you by Samsung, for some reason it works better with the phone then after market wires.

Also when uninstalling Kies you should uninstall the Samsung USB drivers too, check in Program Manager on the PC after Kies has been removed.

I've sorted this now thanks. It was some sort of hangup in the phone. Restarting didn't help but pulling the battery out and then restarting did the trick. Kies now working OK.

    Hey all,

I am having issues with mine as well. After I type in IP and go through the steps on my laptop the KIES screen opens but there is nothing there. I have logged onto it many times before without any problems. Just recently within the last week its been acting funny. I tried the steps listed out ( remove battery etc ) and that brought back a little small arrow 0_o !!!

    Ideas please

It sounds like you're using Kies Air rather then Samsung Kies. What are you trying to accomplish with Samsung Kies?

Edit: Kies Air is used for trasferring media wirelessly, updating firmware can only be accomplished through Samsung Kies.
