What kind of branding did 3 put on your phone? I've got one from 3 and I don't have any branding.

Do you not have a irritating 3 start up screen
Unlocking and installing and open firmware is the usual way.
Neither need root.
You do need to familiarise yourself with Odin - to flash your firmware, and sammobile.com to download your firmware.
On the SGS1 I changed my boot animation by rooting the phone then replacing the animation file in the system folder. The SGS1 was about for a while so there is far more resources available. If you check XDA or Google then you might find some animations to download. Whether it's the same on the SGS 3 is another question.Originally Posted by Danz37

iv got a blue one too,it came sealed in its small box with the sim card and stuff in the bag separate from the phone, it must have come from the factory like that
how strange, did you preorder it or you bought it recently?
i bought it last week, i was waiting for it to come in stock online
Maybe that's why, they had a time to put in this stuff, but as long as this is only a start up logo it's not so bad in my opinion coz it's not something you will see every day
