    Crashing during hard reset

So, I recently upgraded my galaxy s and before selling it on I wanted to wipe it clean...so did a factory reset via the settings -> privacy route. The problem is that it's frozen during the reset. If I remove the battery and reboot, it just goes back to the same point....a black screen with yellow font.

Before I did the reset my phone was misbehaving, all the apps started crashing on startup....the timing of which seemed odd as I got my S3 and new sim card today. Oh, one last thing, if I press the menu button, bottom left of the phone, the screen goes blank....press again, and the yellow text comes back.

    Thanks

With phone off, press on hold Vol UP, Home and Power Keys together. Let go when you see the Galaxy S splash screen appear. This should, hopefully put you into recovery mode. Use vol down key to select "clear cache" and select with power key, then use vol key again to select factory reset. Hopefully should fix the errant issues.

Doesn't work unfortunately....goes straight back to the black screen with yellow text. First part reads:

Can you get into download mode?
Press and hold volume down + Home button + Power button until in warning screen.
Volume up to Android man screen.

If so you can flash your firmware again via Odin.

Sorry RichH, i'll leave you to it

Progress. I have a yellow sign with the android symbol that says do not turn off target. Been on this screen for a while now though.

That suggests that the phone thinks it's downloading FW.
I would download Odin and see if it recoginises the phone next....

I get the feeling it's ruined? When taking the battery out and replacing it automatically goes to the screen with the yellow text without even powering on
