    Orange UMA?

Just got my shinny new SGSIII and am a bit annoyed that it doesn't come with Oranges UMA feature which boosts signal via wifi. I have a bad reception in my home and was told by Orange that this phone had UMA and it would help with this, but it hasn't. The SGSII has UMA, so i'm wondering, does this sound like something something that will be implemented in a future Orange firmware update?

Doesn't appear to be a workaround at the moment, but may be worth keeping an eye on this thread:

Thanks. This sounds promising, so i'll keep an eye on it.

It seems strange to omit this capability from the most popular and advanced handset on the market. I guess they didn't have time to get it working in the release firmware, although when i phoned Orange earlier, no one could tell me if it would be implemented in a future firmware update.

If it were me I'd kick Orange into the corner if they are not giving you a decent service, but guess you're committed to them via a contract. Prefer sim free myself and then choose the strongest signal provider.

Well, they're all the strongest signal provider somewhere i suppose, and i travel around alot. I don't think anyone gets good service in my building on any provider, we're tucked away down an ally. I'm more annoyed that they told me it had uma when it hadn't, but would i change to another handset, no way! also, switching service provider, i wouldn't be able to get an s3 for £26 a month, so i can put up with this until either xda or orange come up with a solution.

I'm presuming, despite the high ratings, that apps like these don't work the same way and actually make any differance

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...m.freshnetwork
    https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...lbooster&hl=en

I'm trying the first one at the moment it does seem to give me an extra bar or two, but we all know that bars are not an actual relection of signal, and i haven't had enough calls or texts to know if its helping or not.
