I don't have full profiles for all my contacts?

I broke my old phone, but got a replacement on insurance.
On my old phone, I Loved the contacts!
It totally synced with my Facebook, so I had all the pics with their numbers.
Now, it puts all the Facebook stuff separately (though its even stopped doing that!) and all the numbers are in separate sections. But I can't add numbers to any one name.
For instance, my husband has 4 numbers, I was able to put them all together. Not anymore. They all list separately now, and nothing I try changes that.
Though it does let my personal profile have all that?
What is going on!
Help please!
Its driving me mad.
When I try to write messages, it only gives me email options when I try to write a new message!
Its all very confusing!

I had a similar problem when I got my SGS1, I got so fed up I just imported them to Google and sorted them out manually...now I can just sync my contacts whenever I want.

In contacts go to settings > Import/Export > Export to Sd Card: This will create a *.vcf file on your phone. You can then e-mail this to yourself, turn on the PC and download the *.vcf file to your PC. Upload the *.vcf file to GMail on the Pc then edit your contacts.
Once sorted (I deleted all contacts on my phone then sync'd back) sync back the contacts from Gmail in the Accounts & Sync settings on your phone.
