    IPhone vs Galaxy S 3

Apple should present it's new IOS 6 if I'm not mistaken soon. With what is rumored for the IPhone 5 will the Galaxy S 3 still be a superior phone?

The S 3 will be available in Canada on the 20th of June, and I'm still wondering if I should wait till september (?) for the IPhone 5 to have a better comparaison.

If it's anything to go by my son,an avid I phone lover has gone to the SIII and cannot believe how much better the phone is,he is currently using them both.
One of his friend has also done the same and he works for 02...in his words " how did I live withouht this phone"...
The Apple system is far to restrictive,I-tunes,etc.

I phones are great if you dont mind doing what Apple want you to do. If you want freedom to personalise your phone to your liking you cant beat android. Yes I have owned both and even jailbroken my iphone was still very restrictive.

Ive had an iphone for 2 years and have always loved apple products ever since the first ipod came out. However i decided to have a change and have just bought the sg3. It has taken me a while to get used to android but i have to say the phone is fantastic. Ive taken a bit of a gamble upgrading to the sg3 so close to the iphone 5 coming out which im sure will be a fantastic phone also but iv convinced myself that there isnt likely to be much difference between the 2 overall and Im getting much more bang for my buck with the sg3 as the iphone 5 will cost a bomb. You will probably be looking at £250+ for the phone and contracts of £40+ a month which is a lot more than im paying for the sg3. The sg3 also has the big advantage of being able to add substantial extra memory with the 64gb sd card so even a 16gb phone has a capacity of 80gb. I dont forsee apple adding an sd card slot for the iphone 5 so the most you are likely to get is 64gb and of course those phones will be the top range and most expensive.

Thanks for your input everyone. Particularly Gooberman, because in another thread I mentionned that I would like to instal CoPilot GPS with the North America and Europe maps which take a lot of memory, and I want to leave my camera at home and just take the S3 on my trips. I usually take near 800 photos which adds more memory.

You reminded me of the possibility of adding memory!

I would still imagine that would all easily fit on the internal memory, but a class 10 32GB Samsung sdcard is only £20 on Amazon now.

This is what I was suggested to do, adding a 32GB. While on this subject, you guys can help me to understand better the question of memory. It's probably a very dumb question, but my present phone is very old and I am not up to date with the smartphones.

Normally you get the phone with 16 G (?) or you can get it with 32. It also comes with a 1GB memory (It's supposed to come with 2 GB in Canada). So what memory does what?

The 1Gb is ram, the 16 is for internal storage but is divided into a couple of partitions. Can't remember the sizes off hand but was something like 12 Gb for your storage, photo's and app data and the other bit is for installing apps to. So there's tons of room for apps, not really any need ever for app2sd.

Edit: this could be a bit wrong but it's something like it.
