Whoa, used nav today for first time - that is fast! Locked on immediately and took me to where I wanted in a flash with street view too - very impressed. Best I have ever had on a phone.

It's the GLONASS+GPS+barometer all together!
Thinking of moving up to this phone from my SGS S1, if the navigation is as good as you say that would be a big plus, on the S1 it was temperamental to say the least.
Would it be prudent to stay using Google maps or try something new (new to me not the masses) like Copilot?
Joe
Google maps require a data connection (unless you download prior to journey, but limitedradius) while software like CoPilot have the maps on your phone.
Give CoPilot a try with its free Play Store version - has no voice guidance. If you like it you can upgrade.
I can recommend CoPilot live, and have used it for many years in both Windows and Android.
I’ve tried CoPilot & Sygic and wasn’t impressed with either, but TomTom have announced that their routing app for Android is due for release any time soon, their routing algorithm & live traffic always seems to trounce the competition.
Live Traffic is not something I have signed up for but currently CoPilot offer it free for 12 months and so far very impressed. But looking forward to the Tom Tom android reviews.
I'm waiting for the GS3 coming in Canada on the 20th of June and interested to get CoPilot. I've also looked into Cygic. Can you tell me what exactly you didn't like about these. I have a garmin Nuvi GPS which I really loved and so far in all our travel, it always got us at our desire destination. Then I have seen critics and deception also on the Garmin GPS, so I'm wondering what are the problems that many like you have encountered?
The main problem I find is the routing. I relied on TomTom PNDs for 7 or 8 years going through a number of devices from 520 to 550, but over the last 6 months I’ve mainly used my cars built in Navigation or my Android phone with Google, CoPilot or Sygic. From a routing point of view, the BMW is the worst, followed by Google and then CoPilot & Sygic about the same, but still nowhere near as good as the TomTom 550, which usually gives me similar routes to the one I’d choose myself. All the others however (BMW, Google, CoPilot & Sygic) seem to give me much more simplified routes, which are great if I want to stick to main roads, but can be most illogical and considerably longer at times, which is presumably down to the programming and the routing algorithms used. TomTom are by no means perfect, and their customer service is abysmal, but I have to concede that their routing, when linked to Live Traffic info etc, beats the others hands down, so I will doubtless be giving my credit card an airing before too long.
In addition to the above I found that my HTC Desire just couldn’t cope with the processing required for Sygic and froze up or lagged repeatedly before I finally uninstalled it. I doubt this will be a problem on the SGS3 but I’ll still be waiting for the TomTom app.
Could it be only the limited available choice on the program? For example the longest route, no highway and the like? I guess for myself the most important is does it get you where you want to? I also found my Garmin taking funny route here in Quebec, but when I was in France and Italy and didn't know my way around I found that it was a great GPS. Don't they all have basically the same maps?
CoPilot Premium allows you to set priority levels for different classes of road.
Takes a bit of tweaking, but once optimised, works well.
A new feature is the drag route, so allows full personalisation.
Would have liked a compass on screen (as in previous version), but so much I do like that it's omission does not detract.
