Is this about the BBC News app, if so I can't really see what the fuss is about.
The standard video player will play BBC videos perfectly well.
The video brightness can be set to automatic, you can change the colour tone, activate subtitles, and if outdoors there is a setting to enhance the brightness.
If you want more surely you need to buy a TV????

On that subject, for live tv install tvcatchup.
    Beta App available here:
    http://tvcatchup.com/android.html
Plays perfectly well in Chrome Beta using standard video player.

I've always found auto brightness a little irritating and love the manual swipe-along-the-top-of-the-screen brightness adjustment on the S2 - something that is really missing from the iPhone.

Also, I like PhoneWeaver adjusting my brightness at times (ie - in night mode, minimum brightness).

Actually I'm talking about the BBC News website (or any site using Flash).
