Please help!! ICS update fail on S2 NFC Orange

Please help, I'm tearing my hair out. I wanted to update to ICS Android 4.0 on my Orange branded S2 NFC. I was told by Orange support to download Kies. I did, had a few problems getting the phone to connect to the software including a few driver crashes. After it finally connected, it offered me ICS which I accepted. But every time I have downloaded the update it then fails saying "Failed to run firmware upgrade. Unknown error occurred."

I have uninstalled kies and the driver from my PC (windows 7 home premium 32bit) and reinstalled to no effect. Turned off the phone, taken out the battery, turned off wi-fi and data.

If it wasn't for the fact the orange "signal boost" app has been quite useful in my dead zone of a flat I would root the phone and unbrand it and download the update off the net.

Please please can someone help before I destroy this phone.

No need to root your phone to install the update. You can use Odin and get the firmware from sammobile.com.
This link to the cnet site explains how, with a video and Odin download link.
All you have to do is find the firmware to install at sammobile.com.

    Sammobile link here:
Select Android then I9100P then your geographic location:

    Think it's this one:
    I9100PBVLP6 4.0.3 2012 April I9100PORALP7 United Kingdom (Orange)

I can see only one problem with this fix. There is no United Kingdom version for 4.0 which is where I am :/

Sorry. I gave you the wrong phone model.
    Yours is the I9100P.
See edited post for your firmware.

    Hi guys,
I just upgraded my S2 about 2 days ago.
And it was great with its functionality, but it appears to be wasting too much of battery energy.
But I am still fine with that.

Yesterday, I just noticed that my email did not get updated, so I try to restart my phone, and still did not work for my yahoo email.
I tried to reset (deleted and re-added) my yahoo account and it works fine now.
After that, my phone is still fine.

But after couple of hours, suddenly, my phone cannot connect to wifi. well actually it is connected, but cannot perform any internet related work.
And more, it looks weird to me, as the symbol on top of my phone indicating it is connected, and there is data going out and in, but if I tried to browse internet, it will fail, and so does the application like facebook, etc.

Any suggestion guys? Or is this one of ICS4.0.3 bug?

P.S. : I tried to make a new thread, but did not work on me. So I posted on other thread that may "a little bit" related.

The problems you are experiencing can largely be rectified by carrying out a factory reset and Clear cache.
RichH wrote a good post on the subject.
Regarding emails, the best way of getting them on to your phone is via your Gmail. But if sorted leave it as it is.
With your wifi, again probably related to Settings carried over from gingerbread that should have been cleared out with the reset.
Go into Settings > Wifi and select your connection and ask to 'forget' then scan again for the connection.

Hi greeman, thanks. But I have already tried to do "forget and scan" my wireless many times.
    But still did not work....
the symbol looks like it is sending and receiving data, but when i tried to open anything requiring internet connection, it could not work...
    any idea?
