You have to have a normal sim cut down. It is possible to do it yourself and I can find a template, but safer to nip to a phone shop and have it cut down with a sim cutter. Costs about £1.

    What???
The S3 takes a micro sim card for your network /data connection. You can have a standard one cut down or reorder from your network.
The S3 also takes a micro sd card for your data.

No sorry limited time to do a lot of stuff to try and help a friend. It is a micro SD card and the Sim is the normal size when I looked at it yesterday. Greenman why can I not just go in to recovery and down load the CWM .tar and the CWM manager as I seem to remember I did with my S2. Big responsibility doing this for me - oh no but what the hell..P

Could work, but why risk it when a proven method is available.
My advice is never to jump into methods of changing your (or your friends) phone until the method has a history.
Let others be the guinea pig

Hi Yes will wait until a tried method is undertaken. The S3 is a micro sim I cut my pals down the other day and it works fine. The mobile is slightly longer than the S2 but slimmer if that is possible it uses a slightly more powerful battery too the same as the one I upgraded to for my S2. The phone looks great though. I just wish there were certain apps that we could get on the android market that were as good as the Iphone apps for example. space invaders, yes there are apps on the android market but not as good as the Space invasion 2. Also there is an app called FIxYa cannot get it at all. Would also like to have acces to the Amazon apps store but do not have a USA address....
