What do you mean by homescreen? do you mean the wallpaper or the UI like Go Launcher?

    Hi Pluto,
For one minute I thought you had created a 'How too' guide LOL

Your standard lock screen is restricted to the wallpaper or gallery for its choices under Settings > Display > Lockscreen wallpaper
However, it's the gallery option that offers the most opportunity for personalisation along with the ability to take a screen shot (using power and volume button together - although it takes a bit of fiddling to get the timing right)

What I did to get the ICS wallpaper on my home and lock screen was to first of all go to Play Store and install an Ice cream sandwich app.
This put the ICS wallpaper on my home screen with no problem.
For the lock screen I opened a blank home page (by pinching fingers on any home screen and adding another)
This had the ICS background and I took a screen shot to add it to my Gallery.
Now in Settings > Display > lockscreen wallpaper I could select the picture from the gallery option.

In the same way you can have any picture/background you like.

Your skill level is perfect to give advice to a compete beginner, as those of us who have played around with our phones forget some of the more basic steps.
Did my answer help you to achieve what you are wanting?

You may also want to loo at changing your basic launcher (that's what provides the framework for your initial homescreens)
The galaxy is so easy to modify using apps from the Play Store and if you don't like it just uninstall and try something else.

Have a look at Go launcher here:

    or Nova here:

Hi Greenman and thanks, I am using Go Launcher already as I can keep my apps in folders away from the home screen, looking for apps now that require root so I can play. Also looking forward to the new firmware when it is available.

If you like an accurate clock look at Clock sync., and the Wanam SVoice link I posted needs root as it is installed via CWM as does the lovely Flipboard application I posted.

    For Flipboard do this:

Download the .apk file and put it on your internal sd.
Find the file with your file manager (I use Astro) and tap to open.
You will be given an option to install.

In Menu > Settings > Content Guide you can set your country.

SVoice is a Galaxy S3 version of your Voice Talk app, but takes it further.
Have a look at this video:
