Help me reset so i can update via kies again!

OK so my stupid computer decided to blue screen whilst updating to the latest firmware via KIES (Then my partner sitting next to me rub's salt in my wounds by looking at my BSOD, laughing then pointing to her mac book pro...)

So this stopped my phone turning on completely or connect to KIES (even for the emergency recovery mode)

Sooo after surfing countless sites, downloading and flashing X amount of "official" firmware and flashing the phone I still cannot update via KIES, it says something about you can not update your firmware using KIES (i assume because i have non official firmware)

SO what i want is to reset my samsung galaxy to factory state (firmware etc) so i can proceed with updates via KIES (as i'm not into modding the phone etc)

can you please link me or point out to the right firmware and things i need to reset (kernels also if i need?)

    I have a samsung galaxy sII GT-I9100
i bought in the UK (factory unlocked, debranded w/e you want to call it, sim only)
i have put in a 3 (three) sim card but it takes any

    i have ODIN btw

i would really appreciate your help

TLR - PC died, phone broke, need to reset factory settings (girlfriend laughing at me as she has mac)

    thanks!

    mark

This is where you need to find your firmware.
From your description you need the uk & Ireland version with the letters XEU in the CSC column.
If you have Odin why not just get up to date and flash the ICS version.

because i want it on kies, if they update i'll do it this way i can't be bothered to mess around updating via odin if a new version comes out

    i checked there downloading

    I9100XWLP7_I9100XEULP5_XEU

also got a kernel for i9100xwlp7 as i think this changed

    then csc to XEU

then hopefully should all match up and work!

Yep. You should then be able to connect to Kies for future updates.
This cnet video shows how to install ICS but use the XEU firmware.

Is Kies saying you are up to date - as flashing the ICS XEU would do exactly that.
Or is Kies saying your phone cannot be updated via Kies - or words to that effect?

If the first, the job is done until the next update.
If the second, it's possible you have the wrong firmware as your phone was not sim free, or you have to go back to the last gingerbread XEU.
